Have Your Say! The 2012 National Student Survey seeks your views this term

SSEES final-year undergraduate students are encouraged to complete the 2012 National Student Survey (NSS) which is being run this term.

The NSS provides valuable information for universities to help them improve the student experience. The following are examples of innovations at UCL that NSS feedback has helped to inform:

  • the introduction of UCL-wide service standards on assessment and feedback on marked work;
  • action taken by SSEES to address the concerns of its students regarding (e.g.) structure and contents of specific Programmes;
  • improvements to learning resources, with results fed back to the Library and to UCL Information Services Division as well as Estates and Facilities Division;
  • improvements to pastoral care for students including the enhanced Personal Tutor arrangements.
Students are asked to complete the survey by Ipsos MORI, the opinion poll organisation. It consists of 23 questions to be answered using a scale from 1 (the lowest) to 5 (the highest) and you also have the chance to comment on your experience, both positive and negative. The survey prompts you to give your views on your experience at UCL of teaching, academic support, learning resources and other academic matters. Your participation in the NSS will take up only a little of your time, but is an important contribution towards ensuring that SSEES and UCL are made aware of what is working well and where there could be room for improvement.
