UCL SSEES Library - Notes for Students
Using the UCL SSEES Library - Computing Facilities
- The Cluster in the UCL SSEES Library is for the use of all SSEES students. There is an additional Cluster outside the Library for graduate students.
- The doors to the Clusters are fitted with digilocks. Entry codes are available from the Issue Desk on production of current UCL SSEES ID.
- Do not open the door to anyone who knocks.
- You can access the internet directly from the desktop of the Cluster computers, OR
- You can log in to Cluster WTS for access to UCL email, central filestore and centrally-provided software.
- You do not need to log in to the computers with your IS username and password. These are only required to log in to Cluster WTS.
- USB devices can be used in the Clusters. They must be plugged in to the computer before logging in to Cluster WTS.
- SSEES provides its own printing and photocopying system that uses Flexicards.
- You can purchase a Flexicard from the Issue Desk. Additional credit can be added manually at the recharging point in the photocopying room on the Lower Ground Floor using £1 and £2 coins.
- In addition to the SSEES Flexicard system, all UCL students have an annual allocation of 240 free pages of printing. This quota can only be accessed through Cluster WTS.
- Each of the SSEES Clusters has three printers - two SSEES printers and one IS Print Release station.
- The IS Print Release Station is the only printer you can use your free quota on. You can create a document locally and then copy it to WTS to print, provided the same software is available in both places.
- Further information on Cluster printing is available on the Information Systems web site.
- To print using your Flexicard, you must use one of the computers next to the printers. If you are not printing, please leave these computers free for other users.
- If there are problems with the Print Release Station, please contact the IS Helpdesk - Tel: 020 7679 5000 (x.25000 within UCL);
e-mail: helpdesk@ucl.ac.uk
- If there are problems with the computers or the SSEES-managed printers, please contact the Library Enquiry Office on the Ground Floor.
- RoamNet is a free wireless network provided by UCL for staff and students.
- UCL SSEES Library is a RoamNet hotspot.
- There are power points under the surface of most desks in the Library for laptop computers. Please do not use the power points in the floor.
- For information on connecting to RoamNet, visit the RoamNet web site.
- All UCL students are entitled to use IS-managed Cluster Rooms across UCL.
- A list of locations and further information is available on the Information Systems web site.
