Serbian/Croatian Language | Bosnia/Croatia/ Montenegro/Serbia in brief


At SSEES you can follow courses in Serbian /Croatian language as part of various undergraduate degrees:

  • As a focus of a language and culture degree: B.A. Serbian/Croatian and East European Studies (in this case literature is also studied; the third year is spent in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia or Montenegro)

  • As a part of your combined degree: BA Serbian/Croatian with French, BA Serbian/Croatian with German and BA Serbian/Croatian with Italian (in this case literature is also studied; the third year is spent half in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia or Montenegro, and half in Germany, France or Italy)


  • In combination with Russian: B.A. Russian and/with Serbian/Croatian


  • As a component of a UCL B.A. Language and Culture degree.

Postgraduate students may take an intensive reading course in Serbian/Croatian (Serbian/Croatian as a new language), either as a component of M.A. degrees or for the purpose of doctoral or other research.

In addition to language course units, there are literature, history, politics and economic options with a focus on Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro, or relevant content available to most categories of students. For full details and preconditions see SSEES prospectus.
