Postgraduate Language Courses

M.A. Degree Components

SSEES M.A. students are recommended to take a language course as one of the components of their degree, as this will enable them to access, in the original, texts which are related to their studies. The courses are also open to Ph.D. and other research students who need to acquire a reading knowledge of an East European language, for research purposes, in a short period of time.

M.A. New Language

The M.A. New Language course is designed specifically for students who follow a postgraduate degree programme in the social sciences or history, but who also need to acquire a reading knowledge of the target language for their research. The course is designed for complete beginners, and teaches students to read material related to their disciplines in as short a time as possible. In addition to the SSEES core languages, Albanian, Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Macedonian and Slovene can also be offered, subject to sufficient demand.
