Lithuanian Studies at SSEES

Lithuanian Language | Lithuania in brief | More about Lithuania

At SSEES you can study Lithuanian, which is now being offered as an intensive course (Lithuanian as a New Language), either as a component of M.A. degrees or for the purposes of doctoral or other research.

Training in Lithuanian as a New Language can be provided in conjunction with any of the courses sponsored by CEELBAS.

The course in Lithuanian as a New Language aims to give the student a thorough grounding in the structure of the language, a reading knowledge and conversational competence, as well as an introduction to Lithuanian life and culture, with the aim of equipping the student for a period of research in the country. The second half of the course is aimed more particularly at the research interest of the student, using texts and materials relevant to those interests, while building up fluency in the spoken language and an awareness of current issues in contemporary Lithuania.
