UCL SSEES: First Aid Arrangements

First Aid Appointed Persons

Responsibility for the appointment and training of staff to provide First Aid is delegated by the SSEES Director to the SSEES Safety Officer.

In order to determine the appropriate level of first aid cover required by SSEES, the UCL Safety Services are consulted. The assessment takes into account:

  • First aid provision already in place (i.e. trained staff and first aid boxes)
  • Location in relation to nearest medical help (i.e. proximity to the nearest Accident and Emergency unit)
  • Nature of the work and the hazards and risks of the work
  • Sharing of first aiders and facilities in multi-occupancy buildings
  • Location of first aid boxes
  • Provision during normal working hours and also any out-of-hours occupation of the premises

The following SSEES staff are competent to administer First Aid:

First Aiders Sue Cole - fourth floor Room 409, Ext. 28800
Genny Grim - library Room 206, Ext. 28711
Dorota Hołowiak - third floor Room 334, Ext. 28745
Appointed Persons Gemma Martin - third floor Room 341, Ext. 28772
Maria Widdowson - fourth floor Room 410, Ext. 28804

First Aid Boxes

First Aid boxes are regularly inspected by the First Aid appointed person to ensure that they are properly stocked. Any member of staff making use of the First Aid boxes should report as soon as possible any items that need to be re-stocked.

First Aid boxes can be found in the following locations:

  • SSEES Library issue desk, Ground Floor, Ext. 28701
  • SSEES Administration, Room 409, Ext. 28800
  • SSEES Administration, Room 341, Ext. 28772
