Going back further, events have included 'Another Transition: Power and Culture in Central Europe, 1945-49', April 1998, 'Moldovan, Bessarabian, Transnistrian Studies Day', April 1999, 'Slovakia after Meciarism', November 1999, 'Nation and Community in the Banat and Vojvodina', April 2000, "Lajos Kossuth sent word ..." Conference on the 200th anniversary of Lajos Kossuth's birth, March 2002, held in association with the Hungarian Cultural Centre, Slovakia Beyond the Prague and Copenhagen Summits, February 2003, held in association with the Slovak Embassy in London, Werbőczy, Custom and Hungarian Law, April 2003, held in association with the Faculty of Law, University of Cambridge, and British-Hungarian Relations Since 1848, April 2004, held in association with the Hungarian Cultural Centre. An exhibition was held at SSEES on 11 and 12 November 2004 to celebrate the reign of Stephen the Great of Moldavia (1457-1504). In January 2005, the Centre hosted a round table discussion on the outcome of the 2004 Ukrainian presidential elections which included representatives of Ukrainian Embassy in London. On the occasion of the first publication into English of Werbőczy's Tripartitum (1514/17), a book launch was held with János Bak, László Péter and Martyn Rady on Wednesday 10 May 2006. On 1 July 2006 there was a one-day conference entitled 'Revolt But No Rising? 1956 In Poland', and on 21-22 September 2006 a two-day conference entitled 'Resistance, Rebellion and Revolution in Central Europe: Commemorating 1956' held in association with the Hungarian Cultural Centre.
