MUR
Murray Collection
Lieutenant-General Sir James Wolfe Murray (1853-1919) took a commission
in the Royal Artillery in 1872. He was the author of two handbooks on the
Russian Army. He was promoted to Lieutenant-General in 1909. In 1912 he
was an army representative on a British delegation to Russia set up by
Parliament. He served as chief of the Imperial General Staff in
1914-1915.
Album of memorabilia from Murray's participation in the visit
of the British delegation to Russia, 22 January - 6 February 1912, includes
invitation cards, menus, programmes and an account of the visit by Murray
published in the "Morning Post", 8 February 1912.
